We've been extremely busy working on The Devil & Stepashka over the past couple of weeks and have a whole bunch of exciting announcements! First of all, we have taken a series of new promotional pictures, you can already spot around the website. We have also updated our main design for the production and you can see the new look on the left. Furthermore, we have new and extended performance dates for the production's transfer. After our initial run in June 2014 at The Space, we will now have three additional performances on the weekend of the 19th and 20th of July at Ye Olde Rose & Crown. More details on this and everything else on The Devil & Stepashka are in the dedicated section of our website, If you haven't seen it yet, we are also organising a workshop on the play and have launched a crowdfunding campaign! Stay tuned for many more exciting updates and developments over the next weeks.
We are delighted to announce that Christopher Keech is joining us as the Production Designer of The Devil & Stepashka, which will be presented for a three-week-run in June 2014! Christopher is a London based Cross Platform Artist. His work fuses together a wide range of techniques and past experiences. Having graduated from The University of Huddersfield in 2011 with a BA (Hons) Degree in Technical Theatre, Christopher then went onto complete a MA by Research Degree, through practical and theoretical research into the application of Kinetic Screens (projection onto moving resources). Although his background is within a technical based arts environment, his interest and passion lays within design and visual arts. Whilst she has already been attached to the project for a while, we would also like to formally announce and introduce Leigh-Anne Abela who is joining us as the Director of The Devil & Stepashka. Leigh-Anne trained in Acting & Contemporary Theatre at East 15 Acting School & Performance Arts at Trinity College London. Leigh-Anne's recent theatrical credits, as a director, deviser and as a performer, include the French play, starring Juliette Binoche, 'Mademoiselle Julie,'which was performed at the Barbican Theatre, Sibling Production's 'Short Cuts' at The Hen & Chicken's Theatre Bar, and National Youth Theatre's 'Playing Up: Double Bill' at the Unicorn Theatre. Leigh-Anne already appeared performing with the Goblin Babies in March 2014 at The Vagina Monologues.
Our one-night-only benefit performance of Eve Ensler's The Vagina Monologues last night was a big success and sell-out! Many thanks to everyone who came, our fabulous cast and crew as well as The Space for having us once more. The night also raised a lot of money for the charities Tender, Refuge as well as the V-Day Spotlight Campaign. Also many thanks to photographer Nathan Edwards for capturing us so beautifully; check out the gallery for more! Tomorrow's one-night-only benefit performance of The Vagina Monologues is now almost sold out! As of last night, there were only 5 tickets left! You can grab one of the last few tickets via phone (0207 515 7799) or online. Despite being on for one-night-only, our benefit production of Eve Ensler's The Vagina Monologues as part of V-Day 2014 and One Billion Rising for Justice has received a lot of features and exposure on web publications. Most notably the Londonist has included us in their Things To Do In London This Weekend and About Time Magazine listed our production as part of March's Most Peculiar Theatre. Here's what they had to say about it: "With their stunning acoustics and dramatic architecture, converted churches make excellent theatrical spaces. Juxtaposed with the explicit content of Eve Ensler’s The Vagina Monologues, The Space’s one-night-only production of this award-winning play promises to offer evening of memorable theatre as part of V-Day London. If the theatre is your church, then this Isle of Dogs-based venue is a godsend for those who enjoy the intimate experience of innovative small-scale productions." The Vagina Monologues will be performed on Sunday, 16th March at The Space.
Tickets are selling quickly, so make sure to book asap. We'd like to wish everyone a very happy International Women's Day! A brilliant way to celebrate would be to treat yourself to some tickets for our upcoming performance of The Vagina Monologues on Sunday, March 16th. With one-night-only and all profits going to charity tickets are selling quickly, so book asap. |
